Complete List of Non-Oppressive Insults
I think this is a pretty interesting idea. I wouldn’t include some of these words on my list (douche especially I would consider oppressive, along with ugly, pig face). But I don’t have a problem with the idea behind it; should social justice force you to be *nice* all the time? Sometimes you just need to call an asshat an asshat. You are still free to add on if you like, but these are just what people gave me. After the jump because insults may be triggering to some people. If you have any you would like me to add to this master list shoot me a message and I will add it. Also, if you find any of the following insults oppressive in any way, let me know and I will remove it ASAP.

North Carolina’s gay marriage ban sounds familiar…

I do so love when white gay people pick out the one part of the civil rights struggle they feel they can relate to and appropriate it with zero regard for the fact that it was a part of a much larger issue of segregation and discrimination. Because gay people are being treated just like black folks were, right? Except for the part where you can actually attend any school you want, vote, run for juries and local offices, and are allowed to occupy the same space as other people without potentially being arrested just for being there. All of that was done for the benefit of white people, which includes gay white people, but now gay white people want to claim they’re being treated just like that? White people can’t even acknowledge that Jim Crow had any modern lingering effects despite not ending that long ago, but now you all want to talk about how you’re being treated just like black people were? Now you want to claim that history but with you in the role of the victim? Even while mainstream gay rights pursues a single-minded marriage agenda and continues to do fuck-all for queer people of color? And while you all tried to scapegoat black people for your marriage woes by trying to make us out to be uniquely homophobic? That’s real cute.
Hey fellow white queer people! Read this. And then internalize it! And then stop comparing/equating same-sex marriage bans in the U.S. to the African-American struggles for civil rights! It is possible to talk about discrimination without claiming that all experiences of discrimination are identical or comparable!
